Early Days
I was born and brought up in Hooghly and Howrah, West Bengal.
I completed my schooling from Vivekananda Math & Jyotirmoy Vidyamandir, Bantra Public Library Shiksha Niketan (Class X) and Rajlokhi School (Class XII). I did my graduation from N.D. College in History and later completed M.A. from R.B.U. University.
I was fascinated by music ever since my childhood. The rhythm, lyrics, tunes – it all created an enchanting atmosphere to which I got engaged into and till date I am pursuing it. I grew up hearing the melodious tunes of Kishore Kumar, R.D. Burman, Mohammed Rafi, Kumar Sanu, Lata Mangeshkar, Asha Bhosle, Kavita Krishnamurthy, Alka Yagnik, Arijit Singh, Shreya Ghoshal (to name a few). I was left spellbound by their compositions and songs. That is when I started humming the songs and dreaming into music.
Inspiration
At the beginning of my career, I got inspiration from my mother and then I always felt the need of expressing my thoughts in my own choice of words and melodious phrases. That’s how the music and lyrics all started getting documented through my voice. My parents and my family are always supportive. They encouraged me a lot. Whatever success I have achieved is due to their constant hard work and giving me all the confidence I ever needed.
Career in Music
My first step into music was mainly through my father (Goutam Chatterjee) and my mother (Debaborni Chatterjee). While still in school I took lesson in music from my mother. I picked up Harmonium at the age of 7. As I started singing & playing instruments, gradually my friends became my fans. They used to encourage me a lot. I still remember while singing during a college competition, I left the judges speechless. They were mesmerized by my voice. I never looked back from there. I had participated in many competitions during my school and college days – out of which I had even won a few. I have also performed in stage shows during festivals. Along with my studies, I also practice professional music as well.
Spread Music around the World
According to me, “I’m always fascinated by the innocence of children and from that I am getting an ideal world which can definitely be created with a pure mind and optimistic results.”
I also believe that, “I may not be a fire-fighter or a Policeman but i will try my best to save you through music”.
The world of music is so heavenly that it just refreshes your soul. It is a great healer. I tend to put all my audience into a spiritual world through the power of my musical voice.
